Berlin Fun Facts: According to Berlin’s Wikipedia page, the town was first incorporated in 1785 and is located in the geographic center of the state of Connecticut. Berlin is considered to be one of the birthplaces of the industrial revolution in the U.S. and is the birthplace of interchangeable parts manufacturing. In 1740, Edward and William Pattison set-up a tin ware business in Berlin and employed peddlers to sell their merchandise door to door. This process became famously known as “The Yankee Peddler”. In the 1700’s Berlin saw the founding of many farms, mills, and blacksmiths and saw an economic boom during the 1800’s. Berlin’s current population is estimated to be about 20,000 people.
